In addition to the photos of several mesocyclones, by fellow storm chaser Mike Hollingshead, that people say are photos of Hurricane Katrina coming into the Louisiana shore; another severe weather event photograph is quickly becoming an urban legend. The above picture was taken by Lori Mehmen of Orchard, IA, taken in her front
yard looking east of her house. Picture taken at 9:04 p.m. on June
10th, 2008, but the e-mails going around the Internet falsely attributed it to the fatal storm that struck the Little Sioux Boy Scout Camp that evening, killing four and injuring fifty others. In fact, it is not even a tornado, and was taken a day before the tornado struck the Boy Scout camp in Iowa. Read more about how CNN and other "Legitimate" news outlets are portraying the photo as the "Boy Scout Tornado."
So please do not forward me this e-mail or the "Photos of Hurricane Katrina" coming ashore, please! I can link you to some of my photos, (photo 1, photo 2, photo 3, photo 4) you can use the next time you want to start an e-mail that will make the rounds on the Internet, but PLEASE leave me off your e-mail list.
